Abstract Purpose:To report the short-term ocular hypotensive effect of 0.1% brimonidine ophthalmic solution(AIPHAGAN®)for uveitic glaucoma.

Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 43 eyes of 38 patients who received topical instillation of brimonidine ophthalmic solution for uveitic glaucoma. These cases were selected out of 341 patients who received brimonidine during 6 years 7 months through January 2018. As criteria for selection, the regimen for treatment did remain constant before and after introduction of brimonidine in these 38 cases. We evaluated the intraocular pressure(IOP)before and after one month of treatment with brimonidine among other features based on clinical records.

Results:Baseline IOP averaged 28.1±5.7 mmHg. Median number of glaucoma medications was 1.9. Five eyes(11.6%)received additional treatment within one month after introduction of brimonidine. In the remaining 38 eyes, IOP after one month of brimonidine averaged 20.5±7.0 mmHg, including 17 eyes that showed IOP reduction by more than 30%. No adverse event was observed during one month of treatment.

Conclusion:Brimonidine ophthalmic solution appeared to be safe and reduced IOP in about 40% of eyes with uveitic glaucoma after one month of treatment.
