Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of presumed eclipse maculopathy. Case:A 75-year-old female presented with epiphora in the right eye as the chief complaint. She had watched the sun during eclipse for 40 minutes in the morning hours 16 months before through the ground glass in the window. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 0.6 right and 0.5 left. Both eyes had myopia of about 3.5 diopters. The right eye showed a yellow-colored spot of 0.3 disc diameters neighboring the fovea. Fluorescein angiography showed hyperfluorescence in the parafoveal spot. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography showed interrupted ellipsoid zone surrounded by discontinuity of outer limiting membrane. These findings partially improved 4 months later. Conclusion:The observed finding in the right eye is interpreted as manifestation of eclipse maculopathy.
