  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Photoelectrically recorded horizontal minor eye movement in darkness and under fixation had been studied and evaluated in 10 cases with typical Minamata disease. Square wave jerks (SWJs), probably exaggerated microsaccades, had been disclosed in all cases.

In order to elucidate further significance of SWJs and the site of lesions responsible for the SWJs in Minamata disease, present examination was performed in 16 "Minamata subjects". They have lived in Minamata district and were probably had contaminated enough to develop Minamata disease.
