We performed screening tests for color deficiency in a group of 1,766 children in primary and mid-dle schools in Osaka area. We used the Standard Pseudoisochromatic Plates (SPP) developed by us in 1978.

Out of the 10 screening plates in the SPP, at least 8 plates were read correctly by 90.2% of the children. Two or less plates were read as typical for color defectiveness by 95.5% and as atypical by 96.7% of the children.

The results of SPP and Ishihara's Plates were in fine agreement and led to the detection of 45 color defective subjects in the 1,766 children.
