  • Look Inside

We evaluated the visual outcome of 32 eyes (30 cases) who had been treated for retinoblastoma by conservative therapeutic means including radia-tion, cryoapplication, photocoagulation and cyto-static agents with a minimum follow-up of 5 years. Out of a larger series of 41 eyes (39 cases) thus trea-ted by us during 8-year period (1969-1976), enu-cleation had to be performed in 6 eyes (6 cases) and death resulted in 3 cases.

Visual acuity of 1.0 or more was retained in 7 eyes (22%). Ten eyes (31%) retained visual acuity of 0.9-0.3, 6 eyes (19%) retained 0.2-0.1 and the remaining 9 eyes (28%) had visual acuity of less than 0.1.
