　（1） ICCE, KPEで手術を行った各300眼は，平均年齢ICCE 71.1歳，KPE 58.4歳で後者が12.7歳若かった。

　（2）術前視力は，ICCEに比しKPEは0.1〜0.01に多く術後視力0.5以上を得た症例はICCE66.0％，　KPE 88.7％で後者に多かった。

　（3）同一症例において片眼ICCE，片眼KPEを行った70例140眼では，術後視力0.5以上得たものは，ICCE 85.7％，KPE 82.9％でほぼ同様の傾向を示した。

　（4）術後角膜乱視の発生は，ICCE 1.18D，KPE 0.41Dと後著に有意に小さかった。

　（5）平均cell density平均cell面積拡大率はICCEに比し，KPEが軽度である。ただし超音波使用時間2分以上の例および高齢者の例では両者において差を認めなかった。

　これらのことより従来の白内障摘出術に比し損色のない術式と考えられた。

We evaluated the postoperative findings in 300 eyes each following intracapsular cataract extra-ction and phacoemulsification-aspiration with a followup period of 18 months and over. Postsur-gical corrected visual acuity of over 0.5 was obtain-ed in 66.0% in the former group and in 88.7% in the latter. In 70 pairs of eyes in which one eye was treated by intracapsular extraction and the fellow eye by phacoemulsification, visual acuity of over 0.5 was obtained in 85.7% in the former groupand in 82.9% in the latter. The postsurgical corneal astigmatism averaged 1.18D in the former and 0.41D in the latter.
