Disposable 1/2 inch 26-gauge needles are suita-ble for cutting of the anterior lens capsule. The anterior lens capsule is resected along the pupi-nary margin circularly under full mydriasis with the disposable needle which is inserted into the anterior chamber through the limbus. After co-mpletion of the corneoscleral section, the main part of the lens substance is isolated from the posterior capsule as a lump and is easily removed. The residual lens substance is then removed by aspiration with alternate irrigation and suction using 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2mm needles.
