We quantitated the chemical components in the aqueous humour and the serum in 97 cases with abvanced cataract. The chemical components of the blood serum were within normal range throughout the cases. In the aqueous humour, the nonprotein nitrogen was on the same level as serum except uric acid. The values for sodium, potassium and chloride in the aqueous humour were same as in the serum, while calcium and inorganic phosphate were less in the aqueous than in the serum. The aqueous humour was almost protein-free. Enzyme actieities were low as regards GOT, GPT, LDH, CPK and ALP.
