Electrolytes (Na+, K+ and Ca2+) and glucose in aqueous humour and serum of patients with complicated, senile cataracts and cataracts of diabetics were measured spectrophotome-trically. The results have been discussed, com-paring with those in the control, normal eyes.

In aqueous humour of both groups of patients with complicated and senile cataracts, concen-trations of glucose as well as calcium were found to decrease. On the contrary, glucose concentration increased in the diabetic one.

In electrolyte concentration ratio of aqueous humour and serum, no significant difference was found between patients and the control.
