未熟児出生児の視機能について（その1）

緒　言

　私たちは1971年以来，兵庫県立こども病院における未熟児網膜症の発症，管理に関する種々の報告^1〜7）を行つてきたが，未熟児で眼科的に観察して来た小児の数も相当数に達した。一方，未熟児を救命して生き残つた症例中に，種々の障害を伴つているものがいることがわかつてきており，積極的に救命しなければ障害児も生れなかつたのでないかというジレンマに陥り一つの問題になつている。

　この時点において未熟児出生児の視機能を検査することは，今まで行つてきた管理方法で誤りがなかつたかどうか，反省する一つの材料にもなるとともに，今後の未熟児保育管理上にも意義あることと考えて行つた。

We examined the ocular functions in 112 chil-dren who had been born premature in order to evaluate the correlation between the grades of prematurity and subsequent ophthalmological status. Tue subjects ranged from 4 to 12 years at the latest examination.

Out of a total of 224 eyes, grade 1 of cica-tricial phase of retinopathy of prematurity was present in 45 eyes (20.1%), grade 2 in 18 eyes (8.0%), grade 3 in eyes (4.5%) and grade 4 in 4 eyes (1.8%).

As a general rule, satisfactory visual functions were preserved in cases initially born with ad-vanced stages of prematurity without respiratory distress.
