  • Look Inside

A 3-year-old boy was seen because of exoph-thalmos of the left eye of recent onset. He had yellowish raised nodules on the irides and café-au-lait spots on the skin. Radiological ex-amination of the skull showed enlargement of bilateral optic canals which was more marked on the left side. The remainder of the skull was intact, including the sella turcica. The diagnosis of optic nerve glioma associated with neurofibromatosis (von Recklinghausen) wasmost likely.

The tumor, which originated from the optic nerve, was successfully removed through the lateral approach of Krönlein-Berke technique.
