北海道地方におけるベーチェット病の実態

Epidemiological Studies on Behçet's Disease in Hokkaido District

緒言

　ベーチェット病が我国に異常に多く，近年漸増の傾向を示している。一方この疾患の解明の遅れの為失明する人が年々増加するとともに，眼症状以外に全身症状の悪化の為死亡する症例も見るに至つている。このため実態を知る事は緊急な仕事となつている。北海道というまとまつた生活圏の実態を知る為，1970年10月北海道大学医学部眼科学教室，札幌医科大学眼科学教室，北海道衛生研究所によつて北海道ベーチェット病調査研究グループが作られた。今回の報告はこのグループの成果である。

An organized epidemiological survey of Be-hçet's disease has been conducted throughout the Hokkaido District covering the foregoing 5 ye-ars. The disease has been found at the rate of 1 out of every 10, 000 residents in the District. The incidence was apparently uniform through-out the Hokkaido area. About 40% of patients have asked medical aid within one week after the first appearance of stomatitis or iritis. The visual acuity has been over 0. 6 in the majority of patients at the first medical examination.
