100 Cases of Behçet's Disease in Hokkaido

緒言

　中途失明者に対するRehabilitation施設の組織化，医療給付の改善とういう面からBehçet病が最近社会的に取り上げられている。この不明な病因できわめて悪い眼の予後を呈するこの疾患においては医学的研究以外に増加しつつある失明者に対して十分な配慮を社会的に行なう必要性が生じてきている。このための関係者への働きかけの一歩は実態を掴むことに始まる。北海道地方においては札幌医大，道衛生部，北大，道眼科医会が協力しつつ，この実態の調査を始めており，この報告は一次調査の予報である。

The disease of Behçet has become an urgent social problem because of the increasing inci-dence of blindness from this disease. There exists a keen need of a well-organized rehabili-tation program for the patients.

The present paper is an outcome of epidemio-logical studies throughout the Hokkaido area conducted jointly by the two medical schools, District Government of Hokkaido, Hokkaido As-sociation of Ophthalmologists and the Associa-tion of Patients. From 1955 through 1965, a total of 100 patients have been diagnosed as Behçet's disease in Hokkaido University. The 100 patients consisted of 49 males and 51 females.
