Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of central corneal dermoid. Case:A 3-month-old male baby was seen for corneal opacity in the right eye since birth. He had been born after gestation of 39 weeks with birthweight of 2,998 g. He had also cleft palate, cleft lips, and defect of ventricular septum. Findings:The right eye showed an pink and elevated opacity in the central corneal measuring 7 mm×8.5 mm. The lesion reached the temporal limbus. The right eye also showed coloboma in the lower eyelid. The lesion was treated by keratoplasty. The central area received penetrating keratoplasty and the periphery received lamellar keratoplasty. The removed tissue was diagnosed with dermoid containing hair follicles and sebaceous gland. The treated corneal area has remained transparent with visual acuity of 0.01 at the age of 3 years 3 months. Conclusion:This case illustrates that dermoid may affect the central cornea as a rare developmental disorder.
