Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of systemic treatment with infliximab in 3 cases of Behçet disease with ocular involvement. Cases:Patients were all males aged 34,35 and 42 years respectively. Treatment with systemic colchicine and cyclosporine for 7 years,13 months and 30 months respectively failed to prevent acute attacks of uveitis. Treatment was then switched to systemic infliximab at the dosis of 5 mg/kg. Infliximab was given for 0,2,6 weeks to be followed by an interval of 8 weeks thereafter. Results:Visual acuity during acute attacks was below 0.1 in all cases before switching to infliximab. It improved to 0.6,1.0 and 1.2 after switching. Frequency of acute ocular attacks per year improved from 17 times to nil, twice to nil,and thrice to twice respectively. Conclusion:Systemic treatment with infliximab was effective in preventing or alleviating acute attacks of uveitis in 3 cases of Behçet disease.
