Abstract. Purpose:To report a young patient of central retinal vein occlusion with serous retinal detachment. Case:A 19-year-old male presented with blurring of left eye since 4 weeks before. He was free of systemic hypertension or diabetes. Corrected visual acuity was 1.5 right and 0.7 left. His left eye showed dilated and tortuous retinal veins, retinal hemorrhage, disc swelling and macular edema. Optical coherence tomography showed retinal swelling and serous detachment in the macula. Fluorescein angiography indicated nonischemic central retinal vein occlusion. Serous retinal detachment increased one month later and disappeared 2 months later with improved visual acuity to 1.0. Retinal hemorrhage, venous dilatation and serous retinal detachment disappeared 4 months later. Conclusion:This case is characterized by onset at an early age and central retinal vein occlusion with serous retinal detachment that healed without recourse to systemic corticosteroid.
