Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of very large intraocular foreign body. Case:A 9-year-old boy fell while riding a bicycle and hit his left eye by a bush. Findings and Clinical Course:His left eye showed corneal rupture and a foreign body in the anterior chamber. Computed tomography(CT)showed a low-absorption stick extending from the cornea to the retina. There was no double perforation. The extracted foreign body was a twig of 23mm in length. The postoperative course was uneventful with corrected visual acuity of 0.6 two years after injury. With volume-rendering method of helical CT, it was difficult to simultaneously portray the eyeglobe and foreign body. Conclusion:Good outcome may be expected even in very large intraocular foreign body. CT is limited in its value for piece of wood as the foreign body.
