Abstract. Purpose:To report multifocal patches in the fundus following retinal detachment surgery. Cases and Findings:The present series comprised 2 males and 1 female. They were aged 49,57 and 72 years. All had rhegmatogenous retinal detachment unilaterally. Scleral buckling was performed on 2 cases. Vitrectomy was performed in 1 case. The retinal became reattached in all the cases. Multifocal patches appeared in the retina 2 weeks to 3 months after surgery. In 2 cases, they were located in previously detached fundus area. In 1 case, the patches were located in non-detached area. The patches disappeared spontaneously in all the cases. Conclusion:The observed multifocal patches may have been the result of disturbed retinochoroidal circulation secondary to surgical insult.
