  • Look Inside

A 71-year-old female presented with bilateral blurring since 50 days before when she received surgery for rectal carcinoma. Her corrected visual acuity was 0.6 right and 0.2 left. The anterior chamber was clear. Both eyes showed granular opacity. Subretinal exudates were scattered in the posterior fundus in both eyes. The findings were suggestive of malignant lymphoma. Laboratory and systemic studies were negative. She received cataract surgery 5months later. Simultaneous biopsy of the vitreous confirmed the diagnosis of malignant lymphoma. One month later, both eyes developed band-shaped subretinal exudation followed by serous retinal detachment. The findings spontaneously subsided one month later. The visual acuity improved to 1.0 in either eye. She has been doing well without treatment for 12months until present. The observed fundus manifestations were interpreted as infiltration of lymphoma cells posterior to the retinal pigment epithelium.
