  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The clinical evaluation of the effect of Nitrazepam was carried out on 33 cases of in-door patients (schizo-phrenia, neurosis and depression) and 15 cases of normal volunteers.

The dosage which has been administrated was between 5 and 15mg daily. Placebo was also used in the both cases.

The results obtained were follows:

(1) Sleep appeared earlier and continued longer on the both cases of insomnic patients and normal volunteers.

(2) When Nitrazepam was taken, normal vol-unteers often complain of hangover after waking up, however, insomnic patients feel rather refreshed.

(3) The dosage which is necessary to fall in sleep was 5mg in 80.8 per cent of all cases, 10mg in 15.1 per cent and 15mg in 4. 1 per cent.

(4) Remarkable side reactions were never no-ticed.

(5) Compared with the other hypnotics, a large majority of patients felt better by taking Nitrazepam.
