We investigated about the effect of Levo-mepromazine to 13 chronic schizophrenics, 2 periodical depressions and 1 arteriosclerosis of the brain with depressive feeling.

The initial dosage was 50-75mg. a day orally and increased gradually until the the-rapeutic level was reached. The most effec-tive dose was 100-300mg. per day. The patients maintained this dosage for a month or more.

The clinical results were as follows:

1) Among schizophrenics, caratonic form showed marked, paranoid form moderate and hebephrenic form slight improvement or un-changed.

2) The drug was most effective to psycho-motor excitement, stupor, impulsive beha-viors and negativism. The patients with de-llusion and hallucination were diminished. The depressive states recovered completely.

3) The side effects of Levomepromazine was similar to chlorpromazine, and the for-mer appeared to be stronger than the latter, but these effects not so serious.
