　われわれはうつ病及びうつ状態の患者29例にTofranilを使用し，著効以上ll例，39.9％という成績を得た。著効例の大部分がAngstのあまり強くない所謂Vitale Kraftの低下した精神運動制止を主な症状としたものであつた。

　Angstに対しては，例えば神経症性うつ病にみられるような軽いものには有効であつたが，初老期うつ病の際にみられるような，はげしいAngstには有効でなかつた。更にまた，うつ病うつ状態，躁病，躁状態の患者41例にHirnaminを使用し，著効以上20例，48.7％という成績を得た。著効例の大部分がTofranilとは逆に悲しみ，苦悩，不眠，不安等のAngstを主な症状とするものであつた。しかし，この場合にも，何かしようという意欲はなかなかでないようであつた。むしろ投与中止後に，活発さがあらわれた例があつた。このようにVitale Kraftを賦活させる作用は，Hirnaminにはあまりないようである。

The comparative drug study in the treat-ment of depressives states with Tofranil and Lévomépromazine was conducted, which was designed to use Tofranil, Lévomépromazine, and a combination of both.

The results obtained were as follows.

The patients who showed"moderate to marked improvement"were:

(1) 11 (38%) of 29 pts. on Tofranil, (2) 19 (49%) of 39 pts. on Lévomépromazine, (3) 25 (71%) of 35 pts. on combined use of both.

In our study, it was observed that Tofra-nil seemed to be most effective against"the feeling of being ill or drop of vital power", others the effect of Lévomépromazine is striking in patients with the agitated feeling of anxiety.

Best responses were obtained in cases of endogenous depression showing the typical symptoms. In fact, 87 per cent of the pa-tients (20 out of 23 cases) put on the combi-nation of both drugs showed much improve-ment. Serious or particularly annoying si-de-effects were not observed in any case. Our findings clearly indicate that combined use of Tofranil and Lévomépromazine in the treatment of depression was very much effective.
