  • Look Inside

Depression was the most prominent sym-ptom in 37 patients treated with Lévomé-promazine. Their diagnoses were manic depre-ssive, depressed (35), manic depressive, ma-nic (1), and dementia praecox with depressive coloring.

(1). The clinical results obtained were as follows:

Twelve patients showed complete recovery and 8 were much improved, 9 slightly impr-oved, and 8 unchanged. The drug was most effective when the depressive stated is accompanied by anxiety and psychomotor agitation. Lévoniépromazine and chlorpro-mazine were about equal in their side-effects, however, in general, Lévomépromazine appe-ared to be stronger than the latter in develo-ping fatigue, thirsty, and stuffiness. No severe reaction was noted at all. Also it showed that the benefit was available for the out patients in sufficient explanation of side-effects. Lévomépromazine in combi-nation with Iminodibenzyl derivative has produced some excellent improvement in the majority of cases. In summary, it is quite apparent that Lévomépromazine has good efficacy for the depressive state.
