  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In the traumatized brains, by means of the benzidine staining after Campbell-Waki's me-thod, I demonstrated histologically the presence of functional vascular disturbances even in cases which no organic changes were found in the terminal vascular systems, used of normal patho-logical examinations. I observed marked conges-tion and hyperemia, and occasionally a picture of circulatory collapse, in the terminal portions of the vascular system, not only in the injured areas but also all over the traumatised brains. In the traumatized brains which survived sever-al days after injury, I found same findings as described above, but on the other hand there were some of the signs of atrophy, anemia and picture of so called "plaques jaunes" all of the brain.

From these findings I discussed the causes of serious general conditions and post-traumatic syndroms after the head injury and emphasized the funcitonal circulatory disturbances are the most important mechaism after the head injury.

Futher I touched on the rational treatment for acute closed head injuries.
