The present research validated the SD scale of prejudice toward people with depression that were developed in the previous study. In Study 1, we analyzed the data obtained in a preliminary survey(n=342)of a previous study. In Study 2, we conducted an online survey(n=180). The main results were as follows:participants exhibited “gloomy” and “mentally weak” beliefs on the SD scale on average(Study 1);the SD scale did not have significant correlations between the variables that are theoretically related to stereotyping(Study 2). These results indicated that the SD scales should be used not to capture detailed individual differences and conduct correlation-based analyses but to examine general trend of the prejudice.
