痛風は，高尿酸血症を背景として結晶化した尿酸が関節に蓄積し炎症を惹起する病態としてよく知られている。典型例は単純X線で容易に診断されるため，それ以上の画像的精査が行われることは少ない。このためCTやMRIの読影を主としている画像診断医にとっては比較的馴染みの薄い疾患であると思われる。

Gout is often diagnosed through patient history and clinical findings, and therefore, MR imaging is rarely performed, making this condition relatively unfamiliar to radiologists. Particularly, in cases where gout affects large joints, involves surrounding soft tissues like tendons, or forms large masses, it can be challenging to distinguish it from various soft-tissue tumors. This article reviews the imaging findings of 4 cases that were pathologically confirmed as gouty tophus, along with a literature-based discussion to outline the imaging characteristics of this condition.
