Purpose: To gain clarity on the actual conditions and factors regarding earthquake countermeasures and business continuity plans (BCPs) of obstetric clinics with beds, and to obtain suggestions for development.

Methods: The survey conducted via mail on 216 obstetric clinics with beds located in nine prefectures along the Nankai Trough. The data were aggregated using a statistical software and the factors there in were analyzed.

Results: Tangible measures were sufficiently higher than intangible measures. Sufficiency of earthquake countermeasures, especially intangible ones, and thoughts of “social responsibility” on BCPs were varied depending on the number of deliveries and conditions developing BCPs.

Conclusion: Development of BCPs was motivated by a thought of “social responsibility”, while utilizing various resources and expanding intangible measures. Support for BCPs should consider a number of deliveries and developing states.
