多職種連携を構成する3要素の1つであるhealth and education systemsは，医療システムと教育システムを相互的に機能させ，適切な専門技能を習得した医療人材を適正に配置することにより，現代の医療システムが直面している医療人材不足と医療システムの分断という2つの大きな課題の解決をはかるための組織的戦略である。本稿ではhealth and education systemsを有効に機能させるための病院，行政レベルでの具体的な取り組みについて概説したうえで，私たち医療者が多職種連携を実践することでどのように医療の質が改善されるのかについて理論的背景とエビデンスを紹介する。

Health and education systems, one of the three components of interprofessional collaboration, are organizational strategies to solve the two major challenges facing the modern healthcare system today. These include the shortage of healthcare staff and the fragmentation of the health care system, by placing appropriately qualified medical staff in the right places at the right time. This chapter outlines initiatives at the hospital and administrative levels to make health and education systems work effectively, and then discusses the theoretical background and evidence to show how interprofessional collaboration can improve the quality of care.
