＜Functional Significance of Spinal Cord Lesion Level＞
Although general principles can be mentioned for the management of patients with spinal cord injuries, the specific program for an individual patient must be modified according to the level of the lesion. The lower the level of the injury, the greater the amounts of muscle power available to the patient for his rehabilitation. Because certain functional groups of muscles are activated at particular levels of the spinal cord it is possible to categorize the performance to be expected of patients injured at and between these levels．
