I．はじめに
鼻中隔膿瘍は抗生物質の発達とともに報告例も減少し最近では稀な疾患となった。しかし早期診断と適切な治療がなされないと，外鼻の変形や重篤な頭蓋内合併症を起こすこともあり軽視できない。今回われわれは鞍鼻をきたした鼻中隔膿瘍の症例を経験したので，鼻中隔膿瘍の原因的考察を加えて報告する。
A 57-year-old female had been suffering from common cold and kept browing her nose hard. This was followed by a high fever and stuffy nose.
Systemic administration of antibiotics showed only a temporary relief and she was found to have an abscess of the nasal septum.
She was admitted to our hospital and immediate incision on both sides of the septum was performed followed by intensive I.V. administration of antibiotics. The abscess was controlled with success, but saddle nose followed.
The pathogenesis of the septal abscess in this case was thought due to both traumatic and inflammatory.
