緒言

　鼻中隔膿瘍は今日では極めて稀な疾患となっているが，早期に適切な診断と治療がなされないと外鼻の変形，時に重篤な頭蓋内合併症や敗血症で死亡することがある。特に乳幼児では鼻閉，鼻漏，発熱などの感冒様症状で他科を受診し，その診断が遅れるため注意を要する。最近われわれは2例の鼻中隔膿瘍を経験したので，文献的考察を加えて報告する。

We recently experienced two rare cases of the nasal septal abscess. The first case was a 4-year-old boy, and the next one was a 62-year-old man. Both patients received local incision and drainage, and recovered without any complications.

A review of the Japanese literature showed 99 cases of the nasal septal abscess which were dis-cussed statistically. Especially in the cases of infants, otolaryngologists must pay special atten-tions to the facts that diagnosis will be delayed under the diagnosis of common cold.
