I．はじめに
耳鼻科領域においても，上顎癌のX線検査法の1つとしてpantomographyが利用されており1）〜3），著者らも本誌において，上顎癌のX線検査法としてpantomographyが有用な方法であることを主張した4）。最近，上顎洞炎のX線検査法としてもpantomographyは信頼できるという論文が現われた5）。そこで著者らは，pantomographyが上顎癌以外の上顎洞疾患に対しても有用なX線検査法となり得るかどうかを確かめる目的で，上顎洞にしぼしば見られる嚢胞様陰影を対象にし，pantomographyとWater's projcctionによる病変の検出能について比較検討した。
A comparison of panoramic radiography with Water's projection was made upon 15 cases who revealed cyst-like radio-opacity in the maxillary sinus. These patients were selected from the survey of asymptomatic group. Panoramic radiography proved to be a better radiological approach than that of Water's projection as far as the detection of cyst-like radio-opacity in the maxillary sinus is concerned.
However, in order to obtain a more accurate diagnosis of the maxillary sinus disease, these two technics should be supplemented with each.
