Ⅰ．目的
口蓋扁桃―以下単に扁桃と略記する―摘出術の最終段階において切断―鈍的あるいは鋭的に―する物は，血管，神経および筋肉である。本論文の目的はこの筋肉をM. tonsilloglossusあるいは扁桃舌筋線維群と命名することを提唱するにある。絞断にさいし術者は両手の力で鋼鉄性蹄係をひきしぼるほどこの筋は強靱であるにかかわらず，今日まで名称を持たなかつた。
In a case of tonsillectomy when the mucous membrane dissection is carried from the upper to the lower pole by carefully avoiding injury to the palatoglossus muscle a band of tissue strongly resisting will be encountered as the lower part is approached. Section of this tissue often require a considerable effort when a snare is used. The structure of this tissue is composed of muscle fibers quite independent from that of the palatoglossus.
The author is in favor of proposing the nomenclature of this muscle to be termed the tonsilloglossus muscle.
