Ⅰ．緒言
聴覚障害に原因する言語障害児についての医学的研究は，最近，盛んになつて来ており，その実態が明らかになり，その対策の研究も進みつつある現況である。
著者は，読唇法のみによって言語教育をうけた聾児について，その言語能力の観察を行なつたので，その結果を報告し，いささかの考按を加えたい。
The Observations were made on 50 deaf children. The intelligibility was around 31 to 40 percent in most of them. It was below 50 percent in 82 percent of the subjects studied. It was impossible to get improved score of intelligibility in higher grade level subjects.
Among the respective sounds, the vowels had the highest score and〔gja〕〔gjw〕〔gjo〕 had the lowest. The voiceless sounds were better than the voiced. The semi-vowel〔J〕 had low percentage. As to the position of articulation the bilabial sounds were better than the tongue-palate sounds. As to the type of sounds〔r〕was best, which was followed by the nasal, the plosive, the fricative, and the affricate sounds successively.
It was supposed that the intelligibility of speech in 58 percent of the subjects handi-capped them in their routine lives.
