補聴器と読唇術の併用に成功した難聴例

　緒言

　内耳障碍症例は中耳性に比して補聴効果の少い事は周知の事実であり，特に会話域65db以上の高度難聴例では，補聴器による効果は充分期待出来ない。これは語音が聞えても語音辨別が悪いためである。このために珍しい例ではあるが，補聴器を用いて読唇術を自得し日常会話にほぼ不便を来さぬ程度に成り得た高度内耳障碍症例に遭遇したので，補聴器装用に今後大いに参考になり得ると思はれるので報告する。

Moriyama and Seki reports a case of deaf-ness which was successfully overcome by fit-ting a proper hearing aid and simultaneously training the patient the art of lip-reading. From severe bilateral involvement of the in-ner ear as a postpartem complication the pa-tient, a woman aged 31, became completely deaf in both ears. The results of recovery of hearing in terms of comprehension and clear-ness with which spoken words may be grasp-ed by the patient are presented. And this fact, the authors state, may suggest a basis for better use of hearing aids than they have been heretofore employed.
