　交通災害或は産業災害による頭部外傷によつて発症する症状のうちで嗅覚脱失はその他覚的検査法の確定されていないために，その判定には極めて困難な問題を提供している。最近私は，鉱山に於て頭部に打撲を受けた者が其の後約2年を経て嗅覚脱失を訴えて，労災補償を要求した例の鑑定を依頼され，この問題に就て考える機会を得たので，その例に用いた検査法を報告する。

Kumagami proposes a method by which a diagnosis of anosmia made with ease. A patient complained of a complete anosmia following occupational trauma to the head region which he recieved while working in a mine and for which he filed a due compensation thereto. The method adoped by the author consisted of employing decomposing cancer tissue for the source of smell and obtaining a respiratory curve: this type of smell source is plentiful. The respiratory curve under true anosmia is obtained unaltered: in cases of malingering it will inveriably be shown by a break.
