　Ⅰ．緒言

　いわゆる進行性壊疽性鼻炎の本態に関しては，それが炎症性疾患であるか，二次的に肉腫に悪性転化するものか，或は初めより肉腫を基盤として壊疽が進展するものか，非常に多元的な疾患として種々議論の存するところである。我国においても戦後数々の貴重な症例が報告され，治療の面でもかなり進歩が認められる様になつたが，依然として難治な疾患の一つで，癌や肉腫より場合によつては始末が悪いとさえいわれている。

　私どもは最近，剖検の結果本症の成因上興味ある所見の認められた一例を経験したので茲に御報告し，併せて若干の考察を加えてみたいと思う。

Takafuji and associates report fatal case, of progressive necrotic rhinitis and the result of post mortem examination. A man, aged 28 developed symptoms of left maxillary sinusitis dental in origin. One month later exophthal-mos of the left eye was evident: two months later ulcerations were manifested on the pala-te: in 3 months the pateint's leucocyte Count was reduced to mere 2,000 with onset of sym-ptoms of septicemia. In the 4th month of ill-ness the patient died.

Autopsy examination: The necrotic area showed in part a process of hypertrophy but, in general destruction of surrounding tissues. Microscopically there were areas showing a resemblance to presence of lyphosarcoma: the liver showed a spot of hemerrhage about the size of metallic coin and numerous, abcesses. Culture from these abcesses revealed the pre-sence of proteus organisms.
