　緒言

　扁桃周囲膿瘍は通常片側に來るもので，両側罹患する場合でも一側の炎症が軽快した後他側に現われるものが多く，両側同時に膿瘍を形成する事は比較的稀有である．私共は凹窩性「アンギーナ」に続発し，両側同時に扁桃周囲膿瘍を起した症例に遭遇した．そこで，本症例に「ペニシリン」を一側には総頸動脈に，他側には病巣局所に注射して其の治療効果の優劣を比較する機会を得たので，茲に報告して御批判を乞う次第である．

Hamazaki and Tanouye state that, in case of peritonsillar abcess which developed in a man 33 years of following an attack of cryptic tonsillitis of both sides, local injection of penicillin. in the diseased foci appeared to be more effective than that of intra-carotid injection. The patient was affected with bilateral peritonsillar abcess: one side is treated with local injection of penicillin, while the other with that of intra-carotid injec-tion. The action of penicillin in the two metho-ds is discussed.
