Ⅰ．緒言

　Krabbe型Leukodystrophyは髄鞘を侵す遺伝性の致死的な小児疾患である。Krabbe^1）が1961年に小児のdiffuse brain-sclerosisを記載し，Krabbe型Leukodystrophyと呼ばれるようになつた。この報告より先に，Bullard and Southard^2）およびBeneke^3）が同様の症例を記載している。

　この疾患は汎発性硬化症のなかでも，多核または単核の巨細胞が白質に出現することを特徴としている。

　An autopsy case of a boy with Krabbe type leukodystrophy is presented. The boy was born at full-term from consanguinous parents. During the first five months of life, the boy was apparently in good health, but this was followed by increasing Mental retardation, rigidity of the extramities, blindness and repeated episodes of upper respiratory tract infection. At 15 months of age, at which time there was severe mental and bodily under-development, he died of actute pneumonia.
