（26A-21）　68歳女性が，超音波水晶体乳化吸引術と眼内レンズ挿入による白内障手術をまず右眼，そして2週後に左眼に受けた。左眼手術の4週後に，ヤグレーザーによる後発白内障切開術が両眼同時に行われた。その14日後から両眼の眼内レンズ後面と硝子体に混濁が生じた。ステロイド剤と抗生剤の全身投与が奏効せず，約6週後に両眼の硝子体手術が行われた。術後炎症は消退したが，4週後に硝子体混濁が再び出現した。両眼に対して硝子体切除術が行われた。同時に摘出した水晶体嚢と眼内レンズの培養で，Streptococcus intermediusが検出された。

A 68-year-old female underwent cataract surgery in her right eye and, 2 weeks later, in her left eye by phacoemulsisfication and intraocular lens implantation. YAG laser capsulotomy was performed on both eyes 4 weeks later. Vitreous and retrolental opacity developed in both eyes 2 weeks after the procedure. Systemic corticosteroid and antibiotics proved futile, necessitating vitrectomy in both eyes 6 weeks later. Vitreous opacity recurred one month later. Both eyes were treated by vitrectomy and removal of intraocular lens. Streptococcus intermedius was isolated from the removed intraocular lens and the lens capsule.
