　術前視力良好例に対して，マイトマイシンCを併用したトラベクレクトミー術後の視力経過について報告した。術後6か月以上経過観察できた70眼について検討した。視力低下とは，術前と比較し3段階以上の低下とした。開放隅角緑内障37眼，正常眼圧緑内障16眼，続発緑内障17眼であった。平均年齢は59.9歳，平均観察期間は21.9か月であり，術後各時点での視力低下率は12％，25％，7％，39％（3か月，12か月，24か月，36か月）であった。術後眼圧が9mmHg以下の低眼圧の症例でも，術後10mmHg以上の正常眼圧の症例でも視力低下の頻度はほぼ同様であった。術前視理予と視力低下については相関はなかった。また，視力低下はすべての病型で等しく起こった。トラベクレクトミー術後は視力が低下する症例が多く，手術適応を決める上では十分このことを考慮しなければならない。

We evaluated the visual outcome following trabeculectomy with topical mitomycin C in 70 glaucomatous eyes. All the eyes had visual acuity of 0.7 or better before surgery. The series comprised primary open angle glaucoma 37 eyes, normal tension glaucoma 16 and secondary glaucoma 17. The ages averaged 59.9 years. The eyes were followed up for longer than 6 months, average 21.9 months. The incidence of loss of visual acuity by 3 lines or more was 12% at 3 months, 25% at 12 months, 7% at 24 months and 39% at 36 months. There was no difference in the visual outcome between eyes with hypotony of less than 9 mmHg and those with normal intraocular pressure above 10 mmHg. The fate of visual acuity was correlated neither with the visual field status nor the type of glaucoma.
