内因性大腸菌性眼内炎を3例報告した．症例は38歳女性，68歳女性，74歳男性で，全例糖尿病と尿路感染を合併していた．視力予後は全例不良であった．本症発症の背景について文献的考察を加えた．
We observed three cases of endogentous endo-phthalmitis due to Escherichia coli infection. The patients were 38, 68 and 74 years of age. All the cases were diabetic and manifested active or past signs of urinary infection. Escherichia coli was isolated from the aspirated vitreous in all the three patients and from the urine in two female patients. The prognosis of the affected eye was very poor in all the cases. The presence of diabetes with super-imposed urinary infection seemed to have farored the development of septicemia and hence of endo-phthalmitis due to E. coli.
