　平均16ヵ月凝固後経過観察を行った35例61眼の増殖型糖尿病性網膜症に対する汎網膜光凝固術の効果と限界について述べた。乳頭上の新生血管は75％の症例で縮小ないし消失し網膜上の新生血管は約90％が縮小あるいは消失した。後極部に位置する網膜上新生血管は光凝固の影響を受けにくい印象が得られた。

We evaluated the clinical course of 61 eyes in 35 patients with proliferative diabetic rctinopathy treated with panretinal photocoagulation with argon laser during the 7-year period ending 1983. The patients ranged in age from 35 to 70 years and averaged 53.4. The presence of neovascularization from the optic disc was judged as absolute indica-tion for the therapy, while eyes with epiretinal neo-vascularization restricted within a certain retinal sector were excluded from indication for the therapy.
