Stability and Development of Diabetic Retinopathy

緒言

　内科的に一定の管理を受けていても，本症の発生はある程度不可避である。その進行も同様である。本症自体の発生原因や機序には未詳のことが多いので，これは当然である。マクロ的なものではあるが，5年以上の観察で本症の発生進行に関して，ここに2,3の点を扱つてみたい。

　材料：1969年までの5年以上の観察例で，福田氏（1972）^1）の1969年次の5〜10年観察例と年次的に比較してみた。

In the course of more than 5 years, diabetic retinopathy occurs and develops even if the diabetes has been well controlled. The factors influencing the occurrence of retinopathy were discussd.

1. The incidence of diabetic retinopathy is 47.9% within a year after the diagnosis of diabetes.

2. The occurrence of diabetic retinopathy ri-ses to 32% after more than 5 years and 84% of those diabetic retinopathy are of simple type (stage 1~2).

3. In patients with retinopathy (stage 1~3) 55.6% remained unchanged while 7.4% have regressed and 37% progressed after more than 5 years.
