緒　言

　緑内障における視神経乳頭変化の定量的表現法として，現在臨床的にもつとも広く使われている方法はC／D比（cup／disc水平直径比）^1）であるが，この評価法はその定義も含め多くの問題点がある。

　最近Schwartz^2）は多数の双生児を対象にC／D比を精密に計測し，この結果を他の著名な学者（Snydacker^3），　Armaly^1），　Becker^4），　Pickard^5），Tomlinson^6））の統計と比較検討をしているが^7），同じ正常眼でありながらそれぞれに全く異なつた分布様式であることを指摘し，これはsample側の質的条件の差異のみでは説明しうるものではなく，判定法の差による検者側の要因であることを明らかにした。

We studied the optic disc in normal and glau-comatous eyes in order to evaluate the contours of the cup and the pallor of the disc by means of stereophotography. Sixty-five eyes with variousstages of simple glaucoma were analysed in addi-tion to 88 normal eyes which served as control.

We could divide normal discs into 3 types. Type A is a funnel-shaped small cup located at the center of the disc. Type B is a large cylin-derical cup with a uniform rim all around. Type C is a tilted cup characterized by temporal slop-ing with nasal displacement of vessels.
