　Beckerが炭酸脱水酵素抑制作用を有するズルファミン誘導体Acetazolamidに強力な眼圧下降作用のあることを報告して以来，これが緑内障治療に占める地位の極めて大きいことは周知のところである。しかしAcetazolamidにはめまい，皮膚の知覚異常，胃腸障害等いろいろの副作用があり，連用によりAcidosisを来たす危険がある。副作用を出来得る限り除き，しかも眼圧下降作用の強い薬剤の合成に対する研究が進められて来て，このような目的に添うものとしてBritischDrug Hauses研究所で合成されたものがDiu—rexである。

　私共は今回エーザイ株式会社より本剤の提供をうけ緑内障患者に対し試みる機会を得たのでそれらの成績につき以下に簡単に報告する。

Diurex was used to ascertain its value in the treatment of patients with Glaucoma. Five types of Glaucoma; simple, chronic congestive, acute congestive, secondary and Buphthal-mus were induced in this series.

Totaling 11 cases were treated. The results after the administration of a single dose of 150-500mg of Diurex were as follows.

1) The intraocular pressure declined in both, the normal and glaucomatous eye. The hypotensive effect was notorious in simple, chronic congestive, secondary, absolute Glaucoma and Buphthalmus.
