緒言

　近年ブドウ膜炎ないし網膜脈絡膜炎の病因の一つとして，トキソプラスマ症が重要視されるに至つている。1908年，北アフリカで山あらしから発見されて以来，トキソプラスマ原虫は世界各地の人獣に寄生していることが報告されており，本症は一般に熱帯地方に多く，寒冷および乾燥地帯に少ないといわれている。

　特に，南九州は本土最南端に位置しており，高温多湿な気候であるため，当然その浸潤度は他の地方に比較して高いと考えられる。そこで，われわれは1970年および1971年の過去2年間に鹿児島大学眼科外来を受診した患者について，眼トキソプラスマ症の統計的観察を行ない，南九州における本症の疫学的実態を明らかにし，興味ある知見を得たので報告する。

A retrospective statistical survey was con-ducted over the incidence of ocular toxoplas-mosis in the outpatients of our Department of Ophthalmology during the past two years (19 70-71). 166 patients were studied as to toxo-plasma antibody by means of hemagglutination test of Jacobs-Lunde.

The following results were obtained :

1) It was evident that incidence of ocular toxoplasmosis might be extensively distributed in South Kyushu compared with other districts, and also toxoplasmosis was the most frequent condition as etiological entities of uveitis.
