緒言

　成人に比べて，幼児の眼瞼下垂には多くの問題がある。私達は，現在，フリーデンワルド原法に，二つの簡単な改変を行なう事により，幼児に対して，局麻下でも，極めて簡単であり，かつ，術後の定量的矯正が容易で，確実である方法を使用しているので報告する。

A modified Friedenwald ptosis procedure is described as surgery of choice for children. The present method is simple and rapid and also enables programmed quantitative correction.

Two U-shaped sutures are placed between the eyebrow and the line 3 mm above the lid margin through the tarsal plate and are then tied tentatively. The crucial point in this opera-tion lies in that two wire rods are placed horizontally at the insertion of sutures at the lid margin and eyebrow each. By means of these wire rods, post-operative correction can be performed correctly and easily up to one or two weeks after surgery.
