はじめに
医学の進歩は実験動物に負う所が大きく，広く医学の研究面における活用は，日に日にその頻度を増しつつある現状である。
さて近年，多くの全身性疾患，特に血管性病変，脳神経系疾患，代謝障害或は先天性代謝異常等の分野において，その病因追求に眼底所見の重要性が強く認識されてきている。
A description is given on .fundus findings in 7 vertebrate species commonly used in animal experiments in medicine. Specimen fundus pho-tographs in healthy animals are also illustrated. Following species have been included in thepresent study :
1. Macaque monkey (Macaca irus)
2. Domestic cat (Fells domestica)
3. Rabbit (Cryoctolagas cuniculus domesticus)
4. Rat (Rattus norvegicus)
5. Guinea pig (Cavia cobaya)
6. Bullfrog (Rana esculenta)
7. Toad (Bulb vulgaris japonicus)
For documentation of the fundus findings, the hand-held fundus camera (Kowa) proved to be useful.
