  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Cryosurgery has been conducted to 21 cases of benign or malignant tumors of the eyelid, conjunctiva or the orbit. Liquid nitrogen was used to produced low temperature. The tissue was frozen for 10 seconds to 20 minutes 3 times. Whenever necessary, the cryosurgical treatment was repeated at an interval of 1 or 2 weeks.

Favorable results were obtained in 5 out of 12 cases of malignant tumors and in 5 out of 9 cases of benign tumors. Lymphangiomas or angiomas were particular responsive to the treatment. Widespread malignant tumors and melanomas, on the other hand, poorly respond-ed to the treatment.
